We're number one!

Who would have thought that there'd be so much ski patrol work to be done in May and June? Getting everything organized for this summer's class is a ton of work. At least I'm getting help and cooperation from several people, but getting some of them to respond to emails is like pulling teeth! I am kind of amused that I may end up having to apply for a non-profit organization tax exempt ID number just to have my non interest bearing checking account for the class. I kind of understand it, but I still think it's kinda funny.

On a lighter note, a spammer is finally getting some punishment!

So here's a funny story from last night. We were having a cookout and poker night at Josh and Andrea's house. We're sitting out back, waiting for people to show up and just being social, when we see a truck pull up in the front. We didn't immediately recognize it, and were wondering whose it was when we saw a cop walk up behind it. Josh walked out to see who it was and what was going on. Turns out it was Jason Case, and while he was looking for the address of the house, he didn't see a stop sign and breezed right through it. With a cop directly behind him. Since Josh and Andrea live two houses away from that stop sign, he was in the driveway and parked before he could notice the cop, and so we had our first entertainment of the night. We were going to take a picture, but the memory card on their camera was full. Oh, well. I'm sure Case didn't want proof of that anyway. I still wonder what the cop would have done if I walked up and handed Case a beer while all this was happening... 8-)

Just over a week until Summer Snowfest skiing at Tyrol Basin!

As we hit humpday, it's still staying dryish near us. Lots of other people in the state aren't so lucky.

This weekend is the first of two annual disc golf road trips that Seth and I go on. Lately the wives have been joining us too, which has been fun. Although this time I think they have an ulterior motive, since we are going to Minneapolis, and happen to be staying across the street from the Mall of America. We might get lucky with the weather, but right now it looks like rain for about half of the trip. Oh, well. I've played through tornado warnings, so this can't be as bad...I hope. 8-)

Poker was pretty fun last night. I ended up exiting about in the middle when my top two pair lost to a full house. I thought for sure the guy was playing on tilt, since I had just taken $1500 from him the last hand, and he was playing this one angry. Well, turns out he was still mad about losing that hand, but this time he had the cards to back it up. Oops. 8-) Played out some really great hands before the end, so it was a fun evening anyways. Oh, well, that's why we play the game.

So I got one my least favorite emails at work this morning. In a paraphrase "We've decided to change a bunch of stuff, and have published items that are being given out that refer to renamed email addresses and web pages. So, could you rename them quick for us before people try to use them? Oh, but we don't know if everyone knows, so keep the old ones too." Insert shaking head here.

What a shame, Clarett can't play in the NFL. Poor baby.

blah monday...

It's officially fracking early on Monday morning. The weekend was pretty decent. I was at Heistand park from 9-7 on Saturday playing disc golf. I didn't advance to Sunday's round, but I did get rained on. Oh, well. It was still a fun time anyway, and for the first tournament of the year, I can't complain much. It was a better start than last year's first, so now that I've got the rust off the game, we'll see how it goes.

Ten of us went to see Shrek 2 over the weekend. Very funny movie, I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it.

Monday night is no limit hold 'em at Babe's. $25 buy in, top 6 places pay out, and they also get into an invite only tournament of 24 for a free trip to Las Vegas. I've played a few nights there, it's generally a pretty fun time, and yes, I'm in the next trip tourney. 8-)

And now for random stupidity.

Congress is trying to pull a fast one. Someone tell me they remember the checks and balances stuff from high school. Obviously Congress doesn't.

I've had a lot of questions about questionable email lately, so I had to look up the Gullibility Virus again.

It's a bit moist out there

Not exactly a great day to be working with electronics. I don't know how many lightning strikes I saw this morning on the drive in to work, but the last one that I saw looked to be pretty close to my building, which was a bit worrisome. So far all the servers and gear are chugging along as usual, hopefully it stays that way. A server cluster of ours can be a bit...tempermental...and I'd hate to have to down it and try to get it to come back up and play nice again.

This could make tomorrow's disc golf tournament pretty interesting. I'm sensing a whole lot of gratuitous Caddy Shack quotes. "I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will come down for a while yet."

Just got news that Seth and Sharon's family will be growing by one! Congrats Seth! It looks like he got your face! 8-)

It has begun

Everyone else is blogging, so let me just say baaa...

This weekend is The Capital Cup disc golf tournament at Heistand Park in Madison, WI. Sponsored by A Disc's Throw.

The largest gift in UW history will go to renovating the building that I work in.

Getting harsh on George Lucas.

What do you think about when stuck in traffic?

And now to update my rather stale homepage...it's been a while, but I don't think I can put it off much longer.
